SENIOR REAL ESTATE COUNSEL

Nacelle is a purpose-driven law firm dedicated to accelerating the global transition to clean energy. We represent renewable energy project developers, owners, and operators in support of the development, financing, construction, and operation of wind, solar, battery energy storage, green fuels, floating solar, and distributed generation projects.

We also represent data center project developers, owners, and operators, recognizing the critical role data infrastructure plays in accelerating the shift to a clean, climate-conscious economy.

Our work sits at the intersection of real estate, energy, and infrastructure execution.

We hire people who want direct client responsibility and ownership of their work. Our team is energized by growth, motivated by impact, and excited to help build the next generation of energy infrastructure.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Nacelle is seeking an experienced Senior Real Estate Counsel who shares our passion for accelerating the transition to clean energy. You will serve as a primary point of contact for clients and counterparties, often navigating tight timelines, evolving deal structures, and complex stakeholder dynamics. Candidates should be able to operate independently, exercise judgment in ambiguous situations, and own outcomes. This is a senior-level role with responsibility for leading transactions and managing client relationships.

The role is supported by an established and active client base. You will be supported by junior attorneys and staff and will have the ability to leverage that support in managing matters.

As Nacelle continues to grow, this role offers meaningful opportunities for expanded responsibility, deeper client ownership, and long-term growth within the firm.

This position is full-time, integrated into the firm’s operations and client matters.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Juris Doctor degree and active bar admission(s).
  • 7+ years of real estate legal experience, with focused experience supporting renewable energy real estate transactions.
  • Strong grasp of real estate contract terms and legal and commercial issues underlying transactions.
  • Clear, precise, and detail-oriented writing skills.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills, including the ability to manage multiple matters concurrently.
  • Professional judgment and the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with clients and counterparties.
  • Ability to manage transactions and client relationships with limited oversight, and to operate independently in a fast-paced, evolving environment with competing priorities.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Draft, review, and negotiate project documents, including leases, easements, option agreements, and purchase agreements.
  • Advise clients on development, construction, financing, and operational matters.
  • Lead real estate aspects of complex renewable energy and infrastructure transactions, including financing and M&A transactions.
  • Manage title and survey review, including curative strategy with a focus on financeability.
  • Review ownership, analyze title, and oversee preparation of legal descriptions.
  • Lead client engagements and transactions with immediate ownership, exercising independent judgment.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

  • Base compensation starting at $210,000, with total compensation tied to production through a revenue participation model. Most attorneys exceed $300,000 depending on productivity and workload.
  • Health insurance benefits.
  • 401(k) retirement plan with non-elective employer contribution.
  • Paid time off, sick leave, and firm holidays.
  • Clear path to increased responsibility and economic participation.
  • Permanently remote, within a remote-first firm designed to support effective collaboration in a distributed environment.
